Program Introduction
Founded in 1967, the METU Computer Engineering Department trains students to become analytical problem-solvers capable of designing and implementing advanced computing systems that support modern life. The program builds a strong foundation in computer science theory while developing practical skills in software and hardware systems, including artificial intelligence, databases, networks, cybersecurity, and human–computer interaction. Students are prepared to design scalable and innovative solutions that improve efficiency, connectivity, and decision-making across diverse domains. Through a rigorous and research-oriented education, graduates emerge not only as engineers but also as adaptable professionals with strong analytical thinking, technical depth, and the ability to contribute to both industry and academic environments at a global level.

Real Experience
Studying Computer Engineering at METU is a highly intensive and intellectually demanding experience that significantly shapes how students approach problem-solving. From the early years, students are immersed in rigorous theoretical foundations that gradually evolve into advanced system design and implementation skills.
A defining feature of the program is the close interaction between students and faculty, allowing direct involvement in research projects even at the undergraduate level. This often leads to early exposure to international publications, advanced engineering problems, and real-world software and hardware systems.
The learning environment is highly competitive yet collaborative, with students surrounded by some of the strongest academic profiles in the country, which continuously raises expectations and performance standards.
Through continuous project work, internships, and research engagement, students develop not only technical competence but also resilience, structured thinking, and the ability to manage complex systems under pressure.
By graduation, students are fully prepared to work in high-level engineering roles or pursue advanced academic paths, equipped with both deep technical expertise and a strong professional identity.
